Desk Decor

If there is anything I’m almost as passionate about as fashion, it’s definitely room decor. In my mind, I’m a big time interior designer who can design anything at the snap of a finger. Unfortunately, I’m confined to my bedroom and maybe the bathroom, but for now that’s good enough. The most exciting part of my room to design is hands down my desk area. It is imperative to have this space clean and modern; at least for me. It helps me think and clears my mind at the same time. While you’re working, it doesn’t hurt to make the space look good. Starting off with what I think is the most important; a mood board. If you’re working a job that requires constant creativity a board full of fun and inspiring pictures and ideas is the best thing to have, plus it looks really good over any desk. Next are plants! Who doesn’t love a little green? It adds color and earthy tones perfect for a workspace. Lastly, I love candles. They help me relax when I’m freaking out over work or just when I need a nice night in. They add so much to the decor aspect but also smell great! The bottom line here is, your office space is one of the most important parts of any home because it’s where work gets done! So putting a little love into your workspace will benefit you and your work a little more.

Monochrome Room Decor

Room Decor has become my newfound obsession. While I only play with about three colors in the decor palette, it’s still an exciting time. These are some of the pieces I use for inspiration for my own home!

Jack’s Wife Freda

Visiting Jack’s Wife Freda for the second time, I was still impressed and overwhelmed in the best ways. The Soho based restaurant on Lafayette Street is probably one of the coziest and homey places that still manages to make me feel like I’m at a family dinner with fifty family members. The small space and crowded tables make it that much more appealing and home-like. The rectangular room holds about 50 people who are all enjoying their various selection of breakfast, brunch and lunch. (My favorite is the Mediterranean breakfast) The overall ambience and aesthetic resonates the comfortable, city feel so many people love. There isn’t a day this place isn’t crowded, and all for good reasons. (Even on a random Wednesday)

Maman, Soho

Discovering new places to eat is probably one of my favorite pass times. One; because I love food and two; because I get to bring friends and take countless amounts of pictures. I usually find myself in Manhattan or Astoria because they are known to be the trendy place to be, especially for food. So the latest place I’ve been is Maman down in Soho. I quickly looked it up desperate for a place to sit, eat and unwind with my friend after a stressful week of school. We walk in and are greeted with a small and rustic space with a french twist. The food display mirrors the quant little European cafes and the small space in the back felt like spending time in a small cottage. The back was decked out in vintage pieces with cracked white chairs and worn down wooden tables. The food impressed as much as the decor. We both purchased the kale and chicken salads with grapefruit juice. It was fresh, tasty and packaged with a cute sticker, making the experience that much more entertaining. So if you’re looking for a good lunch break spot or just a place to catch up with a friend Maman is the place to go.

Room Decor

I’m a crazy person when it comes to room decor. It probably my favorite thing next to pointed toe shoes and Dairy Milk chocolate. I have this weird thing where I move any piece of furniture I can probably every month. Once i’m tired of looking at it, I quickly feng shui like a crazy person. My favorite vibe probably has to be all white. I’m a sucker for white, wood and black. I love the simplicity it holds and it looks pretty darn chic too.

Some of my favorite pieces have to be my little Buddha from Homegoods and my spherical contraption. (also from homegoods) I feel they add a homier, elegant feel amidst all the white. Enough of that let;s not forget the infamous Ikea pillow. Everyone has it but it’s honestly the perfect pillow. It goes with EVERYTHING and it’s comfy as heck.

All About: YOGA

akostar

Ok this post is gonna be all about yoga. I’ve finally met the love of my life and it’s only a train ride away. Getting into a class, sitting down and literally forgetting about all my worries of the week is the only thing that keeps me sane. I look forward to classes simply because I can step away from my crazy life and RELAX. My favorite thing to do is go to an actual studio because I like being directed in something I don’t know much about. Me doing yoga at home will end up with me ditching the mat and heading straight to the nearest computer (because I have the attention span of a goldfish). Anyway, going to a studio with a professional guiding me works best for me and the results are awesome! I don’t only feel relaxed when it’s over but I feel like I actually worked out which is awesome because it takes me a while to get used to running. Overall, yoga for me is the best because I exercise while still getting that workout in!
