Celeb Spotlight: Selena Gomez

I’ve been a personal fan of Selena Gomez since Wizards of Waverly Place. Anyone else? I loved her, but I specifically loved her fashion choices. Starting off she was a bit of a tomboy, which I loved because she embodied my style as a thirteen year old, but as she grew up so did her fashion.

As most can see from the copious amounts of pictures of her leaving an airport or picking up some food, she loves monochromatic and basic pieces that she tends to put her own twist on.  She ranges from jeans, a t-shirt and heels to a cute dress and booties, which makes it that much more interesting when new pictures surface.

Another thing I love is her effortlessness. Everything she wears looks like she put A LOT of effort into it, but probably thought about it an hour before walking out the door. Nonetheless, I would kill to have her wardrobe and pull off half of the things she does, so hats off to you Selena.

 

 

Fashion Week

Fashion Week has just wrapped up and it was such an eventful one! Shows from Rihanna’s to DVF’S sent their guests to another world for the five minutes they were present.

Rihanna Fenty Puma:

Let’s begin with Rihanna’s show. This lady can do no wrong, and she definitely proved that with this collection. She showcased her edgy and risqué designs that incorporated some of the coolest and ingenious pieces to feature on the runway. She was not afraid to bring her love for street style and multiply it by 50. Maybe because it’s Rihanna, maybe because it was genius. Nevertheless, her casual attire mixed with the offbeat and gritty fabrics created a memorable show.

DVF:
DVF’S resort show left people with a nostalgia people couldn’t shake off. (of the 70’s that is) Although she incorporated eccentric pieces and colors to her normally classic designs, her genius visions made this show cohesive and impressive. She kept the femininity of her clothes while adding a fun and light twist with the colors and cuts she manifested. We can all agree her runway show kicked butt, but nobody can deny her interactive show featuring some of the hottest models took the cake. Guests watched the most fashionable ladies walk around the venue in some of the coolest and pleasing outfits.

Kanye West:
Like always, Kanye West definitely put on a presentation. His release party meets fashion show that took place in Madison Square Garden had people talking for days. The release of his new album and showcase of his new line left people speechless and maybe a little bit confused. His signature nude collection made a comeback as models strategically stood on blocks while his album played. Continuing his unconventional ways, he invited people to dance and model by his runway leaving people impressed and a bit envious.

DUMBO, BROOKLYN

Dumbo, Brooklyn the smallest, but busiest “town” in New York. One main street connecting to a bunch of tiny side streets makes this place both quaint and modern, making everybody who enters fall in love. I know I did walking through on this chilly and windy day, but don’t worry we braced the cold and got the pictures down!

 

 

Celeb Spotlight Gigi Hadid

So I’m starting this new series of posts which puts a spotlight on some of my fashion inspirations. There’s a plethora of celebs who have amazing style so I’d like to highlight some of their pieces and what’s so good about them.

So my first is Gigi Hadid! We all know she has some of the coolest style on the street today and everybody and their mother’s wants to be like her. Plus, her style is very easy to recreate which puts us ordinary folk at an advantage. While making my daily rounds on Tumblr or Instagram, I always see new posts about her and her street style so I’m always finding myself purchasing similar shoes or jeans. (oops!)

What I love about Gigi’s style is that she mixes high fashion items with inexpensive, fast fashion pieces. The mix and match effect creates a cool dynamic that really adds to the charm of her style, which I have come to appreciate. She is always sporting basic shirts and a nice pair of jeans with a statement bag, jacket or shoes, as you can see with her snakeskin boots up top or the studded leather jacket. (To die for by the way!) Also, the blue leather jacket is so smart because it speaks for the whole outfit. The outfit itself is basic, but the jacket gives it a pop of color and a bit of edginess that ties it all together. It can be worn on a day out with friends or even a low key date, so the versatility of it is awesome, just like all of her outfits.

 

 

 

 

How To Wear Adidas Superstars/White Sneakers

As we know, white sneakers preferably Adidas Superstars are all the rage. (and for all good reasons) They have recently been seen everywhere on the streets, styled with so many different pieces and patterns. We have seen them on some of the hottest celebrities as well as that girl who sits next to you in math class. They are some of the most comfortable and trendy shoes that are so versatile and manageable, there is no reason not to purchase them.
When they first came out I remember seeing them on everybody which kind of pushed me away, but looking at them more I realized what all the hype was about. (They’re freaking awesome!) Hopefully they stay relevant in the world of street style and become timeless pieces because they are definitely worth it.

 

Ending The Year Right

So 2015 is already over and I can’t believe it. This by far has been one of the coolest years in fashion and I can’t wait to see what 2016 has in store. Now as you can see from the pictures, turtlenecks have been my absolute favorite pieces from this year and they better be just as popular in the new year. A turtleneck is timeless and can be styled in so many different ways, from a chunky knit to under a leather jacket or coat. It is the one piece that can be worn to be extremely comfortable or extremely chic, which is why it’s at the top of my list. So in the upcoming year, make sure you all go out and buy one for your wardrobe and rock it which ever way you wish.

Best of 2015

Now that 2015 is coming to a close, it’s the time to look over the best trends of the year. This year was full of new surprises and old, innovative trends that were brought back to life. These trends blew up being worn by everybody and their mothers, and for all the best reasons. Some of my favorites this year would have to be capes, anything suede, over the knee boots, sneakers and turtlenecks (but they’ve never really gone out of style, have they?)

Visiting Jack’s Wife Freda for the second time, I was still impressed and overwhelmed in the best ways. The Soho based restaurant on Lafayette Street is probably one of the coziest and homey places that still manages to make me feel like I’m at a family dinner with fifty family members. The small space and crowded tables make it that much more appealing and home-like. The rectangular room holds about 50 people who are all enjoying their various selection of breakfast, brunch and lunch. (My favorite is the Mediterranean breakfast) The overall ambience and aesthetic resonates the comfortable, city feel so many people love. There isn’t a day this place isn’t crowded, and all for good reasons. (Even on a random Wednesday)
